When it comes to high end fabric, Scabal is among a handful of big names when time comes for a tailor to consider his canvas for a well made suit. As a spinner, their history extends close to 5 centuries, as Scabal, they’ve been operating since 1938, over 75 years on, Scabal now encompasses tailor made and ready to wear collections.

Opening their first salon in the prestigious Avenue George V in Paris, Scabal supplies not just the canvas now but fully finished works of art – suits, jeckts, trousers and shirts in half measure (accomplished in Germany) or small artisanal measure (conducted in Italy). For summer, they have introduced their Kapok collection, a curated selection of 19 fabrics out of a retinue of close to 500 cloths.

Using “silk-cotton” threads produced by the namesake Kapok tree, the lightweight gossamers float its flowery seed on the wind, spreading the gentle Kapok across great expanses from Africa to South America and even the Caribbean. The result spun yarn is perfect for both spring and summer while keeping the silky garments constructed from these fibres a comfortable yet solid fit. It is the ideal material for the myriad of lifestyles for the contemporary gentleman. It comes in 300g weight and a Bedford cord which weighing in at 270g is perfectly suited for all manner of comfortable suiting without sacrificing formality.
