It was in 1993 when Caroline Scheufele, Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director first designed a sportier timepiece that could be worn with jeans on the back of a motorcycle, encapsulating a breezy, joie de vivre approach to luxury. Early to the concept of everyday elegance, she boldly combined the most precious of stones – diamonds – with perhaps the most unexpected materials – stainless steel. And along with ebullient, mobile diamonds which reigned freely under sapphire crystals, the refreshing amalgam became the house’s signature rendering and an icon at large.
In 2013, Chopard feted the 20th anniversary of this beauty with the development of the first mechanical movement for the Happy Sport Medium Automatic, featuring redesigned lines and details. To make it even more wearable and adaptable, Chopard presents its successor in 2015, the Happy Sport 30mm Automatic, a feminine yet purposeful iteration in a polished or diamond-laden case. Its proportions have been downsized whilst maintaining the self-winding movement introduced in 2013 with the 36mm model. Five floating diamonds prance around its silvery dial featuring a beautiful spiral guilloché centre pattern. Adding the perfect sparkle of detail, the crown, also made of steel, is set with a blue sapphire, whilst the steel bracelet or alligator leather strap accentuates the singularly graceful appeal of this model.
