Finnish born, Swiss based Kari Voutilainen recently unveiled the Kari Voutilainen GMR in anticipation of Baselworld 2015. The new timepiece with 24 hour second time zone and retrograde power reserve indicator is a culmination of the watchmaker’s masterful modern interpretation of classic aesthetics and his expertise with complex mechanisms and in the GMR, a reflection of his horological perspective stemming from his time as the Head of Department for High Complications at WOSTEP and as a veteran restorer at Parmigiani Mesure et Art du Temps.

In the Kari Voutilainen GMR, the watch virtuoso equips his completely designed and handmade manufacture movement with German silver and finished to his exacting standards with haute horlogerie décor like Geneva stripes, chamfered bevels and rhodium plated.
The Free Sprung balance with Grossman interior curve and Phillips exterior curve follows a long held mathematical principle based on Grossman’s and Phillips’ calculations for isochronism similiar to what has been employed on Grand Seikos.
The GMR from Voutilainen allows you to adjust the second time zone by the crown, advances in hour jumps thus ensuring no loss of accuracy with time at origin. In terms of aesthetics, the dial is solid silver and gorgeously engine turned by hand with classical, gentlemanly case proportions to boot – 39mm.
Available in white, rose gold and platinum and in a limited production of 12 pieces each.
