It’s not a “heritage” leather brand like Berluti but Il Bussetto is making waves in the leather goods industry for designing and producing accessories of superlative quality. Established in 2004, they’re named for the traditional tool which artisans use to polish leather. More importantly, the seamless, moulded look is the result of a traditional Tuscan technique where the craftsman place the moist animal skin onto wood forms to produce the required shapes from iconic Il Bussetto stingray coin pouch and designer card holders.
This technique also gives complex accessories the unique “one piece of leather” look without using any kind of seams. The leather accessories themselves might take striking pastel hues but the colours are actually completely natural and are diluted with water and alcohol, thus making the pigments easily absorbable while preserving the natural textures of the skin.
